Description of the Program

This program is started in the Fall semester only NOTE: Semester “A” is the first semester of each level. Semester “B” is the second semester of each level. Topics will include: Orientation to the Trade, Basic Safety, Introduction to Construction Math, Introduction to Hand Tools, Introduction to Power Tools, Pipefitter Hand Tools, Pipefitter Power Tools, and Introduction to Basic Rigging. Advanced Pipe Fabrication, Stress Relieving and Aligning, Steam Traps, Inline Specialties, Special Piping, Hot Taps, Maintaining Valves, and Introduction to Supervisory Roles.

Pipefitting I-A

18 Sessions/80 Hours

Prerequisite: English Math Test or Applied Construction Math Class and English Reading Test
All testing must be completed no later than Friday August 20, 2021.
The course topics will include: Orientation to the Trade, Basic Safety, Introduction to Construction Math, Introduction to Hand tools, Introduction to Power Tools, Pipefitter Hand Tools, Pipefitter Power Tools, and Introduction to Basic Rigging.
Note: All students are required to attend one (1) additional four hour class.

Course topics are: Introduction to Construction Drawings; Oxyfuel Cutting; Introduction to Construction Math; Fractions, Decimals angles, degrees, square, and square roots and right triangle; Motorized Equipment One; Basic Communication Skills; Basic Employability Skills; and Introduction to Material Handling.

Pre-requisite: Pipefitting I-B Course topics will include Piping Systems, Drawings and Detail Sheets; Identifying Installing Valves, Pipefitter Trade Math and Threaded Pipe Fabrication.
Note: All students are required to attend one additional class of 4 hour class

Course topics will include: Introduction to Pipefitting IV-A; Unit 1 - The Evolution of Construction Projects; Unit 2 - Construction Project Contract Documents; Unit 3 - The Working Drawings; Unit 4 - The Specifications; Unit 5 - Find Construction Information in the Working Drawings and Specifications; Unit 7 - Structural Category of the Drawings Structural Worksheet; Unit 8 - Mechanical Category of the Drawings Mechanical Worksheet; Advanced Blueprint Reading; Advanced Pipe Fabrication; and Special Piping.
