Description of the Program
One of the oldest trades but one of the most important in building any type of finished project is the field of carpentry. With a shortage of journeymen on the horizon the construction industry working along with CEF has developed a new two year commercial carpentry program. This new two year program is designed to help industry by providing knowledgeable and skilled trades people.

Commercial Carpentry I - General

17 Sessions/80 Hours
Pre-Requisite: English or Spanish TABE Math Test or Applied Construction math Class and English or Spanish TABE Reading Test and ESL Placement Test.
All TABE Testing must be completed no later than Friday January 15, 2021.
Course topics will include: Orientation to the Trade; Basic Safety; Basic Communication Skills; Introduction to Construction Math; Introduction to Hand Tools; Introduction to Power Tools; Hand and Power Tools; Building Materials, Fasteners, and Adhesives; Basic Employability Skill; Introduction to Materails Handling; Introduction to Construction Drawings; Introduction to Construction Drawings, Specifications and Layout; Floor Systems; Wall Systems; Ceiling Joist & Roof Framing; Introduction to Building Envelope Systems; Introduction to Basic Rigging; Introduction to Building Envelope Systems, and Basic Stair Layout.
