Commercial Blueprint Reading and Specifications
Type of Class: Semester
16 Sessions/48 Hours
Prerequisite: English TABE Reading Test and if you have little or no Construction experience, it is strongly recommended that you take the Commercial Materials Methods class or test out prior to taking the Blueprint Reading Course.
This course consists of 48 hours and covers Commercial Blueprint Reading
& Specifications with emphasis on the interrelationship between drawings,
specifications and construction project. Topics include: Evolution of a
Construction Project; Construction Documents; Plan Views; Elevations
and Related Views; Sections, Details, Symbols, Schedules. Emphasis
is given to Civil Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical Drawings
and Specifications.
Note: If a student has previously purchased prints and specs in another
CEF course that required prints and specs these may be used in this
course. A student would still need to purchase the text(s) for this course.

Electrical Blueprint Reading

Students will read and understand electrical drawings and specifications; learn to interface with other trade contractors’ drawings to avoid installation conflicts; review architectural drawings, details and drawings and elevation drawings as they apply to installation of electrical items.

Fundamentals of REVIT MEP

Prerequisite: Knowledge of Blueprint Reading and/or AutoCAD
This course will introduce students to Autodesk Revit MEP covering
concepts like navigating the user interface, project setup and basic HVAC,
electrical, and piping/plumbing components that make the software a
powerful and flexible engineering modeling tool. This course will also
familiarize students with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and the
tools necessary to create, document, and print the parametric model. The
examples and practices are designed to take the students through the
basics of a MEP project from linking in an architectural model to creating a
set of construction documents.
